Alexandria and the North Coast | The Delta and the Canal Zone | Cairo

Also known as the Delta or the North of Egypt, this area stretches from Cairo to the Mediterranean Coast.

It is 'the green heart' of Egypt. Officially the delta starts at the city of Qanater, where the Nile divides herself in two arms; the Rosetta and the Damietta.

Although this fertile part of Egypt was also very important in Pharaonic times there are not many remains of that time. It is worth a visit however, if not for ancient ruins than for the countryside and to get an idea of the traditional Egyptian country life.
